2007: Happy Holidays from the Lake Lagunita Surf and Dive Club
We are at Stanford’s Lake Lagunita. Stanford used to fill this lake with water diverted from nearby San Francisquito Creek, but environmentalists discovered that the water level in the creek dropped too low for fish to spawn. Now the lake is dry most of the time, the boat house is gone, and the sailing and crew programs have moved to the Bay. The town and gown dance continues, balancing the needs of the fish in the creek and the endangered tiger salamander in the “lake”.
