I went to see the Mona Lisa, in order to indulge my curiosity about why it's considered the best portrait of all time. The Mona Lisa is in a room off the Grande Galerie. This is what you see while you're in line to see the Mona Lisa! There are outstanding paintings on all the walls surrounding the wall da Vinci's most famous painting hangs by itself. The painting is much more impressive in person than in photographs. Da Vinci's use of color is awesome. I think that Raphael and Vermeer are better painters, however.
